Melody can be listened in….?

The sitar is a melodic string instrument where the player can hear and control the melody clearly through its sympathetic strings and main playing strings. Unlike the tabla which is primarily percussion, or the tanpura which provides a constant drone background, the sitar is designed to play melodies. The sarod is also melodic but less commonly associated with melodic listening in this context.
