Dodoma is the official designated capital of Tanzania since 1974, while Dar es Salaam remains the largest city, commercial hub, and de facto economic capital. The government relocation has been gradual. Tel Aviv is Israel's economic center (Jerusalem is the proclaimed capital), and Abidjan is in Côte d'Ivoire.
