Hindi is officially written in Devanagari script, but for digital communication like emails and SMS, Latin script (English alphabet) is commonly used due to keyboard limitations and technical constraints. This practice, known as 'Hinglish' or Romanized Hindi, is widely used in informal contexts.
When typing Hindi in emails or SMS messages, most people use the Latin (Roman) alphabet to phonetically spell out Hindi words — commonly called 'Hinglish' — rather than typing in the native Devanagari script, largely because Latin keyboards are more universally available and familiar. Devanagari is the correct script for formally written Hindi, but it's not what's typically used in casual digital messaging.
