Plants that contribute to nitrogen fixation include the legume family- Fabaceae with taxa such as kudzu, clovers, soybeans, etc. They contain symbiotic bacteria called Rhizobia within nodules in their root systems. The pigment leghaemoglobin is found in the root nodules of legume plants.
Rubia belongs to the family Rubiacae and it contains mainly alizarin, a red pigment in root.
