Lumbini is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Buddhists as it is the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism. It is not associated with Islam, Christianity, or Sikhism. UNESCO designated it as a World Heritage Site in 1997.
