D Correct answer
Explanation

Sirimavo Bandaranaike of Sri Lanka became the world's first female Prime Minister when she was elected in July 1960. Golda Meir became Israel's PM in 1969, Indira Gandhi became India's PM in 1966, and Mary Eugenia Charles served as Dominica's PM from 1980-1995. None of these predated Sirimavo Bandaranaike's historic achievement.
