Statement I : If the article sold at 20% more then profit earned will be Rs. 40 Statement II : Marked price of article is Rs 400 and profit% is equal to discount% and profit % is 40%.

  1. Statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question but statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the questions कथन I अकेले प्रश्न का उत्तर देने के लिए पर्याप्त है लेकिन कथन II अकेले प्रश्नों का उत्तर देने के लिए पर्याप्त नहीं है

  2. Statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question but statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question. कथन II अकेले प्रश्न का उत्तर देने के लिए पर्याप्त है लेकिन केवल कथन I अकेले प्रश्न का उत्तर देने के लिए पर्याप्त नहीं है।

Explanation

Statement I: If sold at 20% more, profit = 40. Let CP = x, SP = 260. Then 1.2x - x = 40, so 0.2x = 40, x = 200. Sufficient alone. Statement II: MP = 400, profit% = discount% = 40%. SP = MP × (1-40/100) = 400 × 0.6 = 240. But given SP is 260, contradiction. However if profit% on CP = 40% and discount% on MP = 40%, then CP = 240/1.4 = 171.43. But 171.43 × 1.4 = 240 ≠ 260. Still sufficient to find CP as 171.43. Each statement alone gives CP (though with different values).
