When using the Object Repository Automation Object Model (AOM) to manipulate shared object repositories stored in Quality Center, you must first download them to your local file system. The AOM cannot directly work with repositories stored in Quality Center without a local copy. This is a prerequisite step before any programmatic manipulation can occur.
