GDG (Generation Data Group) datasets stored on tape cannot be directly browsed or edited because tape storage is sequential access media. Unlike disk datasets that allow direct access and editing, tape datasets require the entire dataset to be read sequentially. To work with tape GDG entries, you must first copy them to disk storage.
