Ulaanbaatar (also spelled Ulan Bator) is the capital and largest city of Mongolia. It has served as the political, cultural, and economic center of Mongolia since 1911, when it was declared the capital of the newly independent Mongolia. The city is located in the north-central part of the country on the Tuul River.
