Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram) is famous for its rock-cut and shore temples built by the Pallava dynasty in the 7th and 8th centuries. While the Pallavas ruled from Kanchipuram, Mahabalipuram remains their most iconic architectural site. Chennai, Cuddalore, and Neyveli do not house the primary Pallava temple complex.
