Power supplies contain delicate electronic components that can be damaged by liquid or physical contact. Compressed air safely removes dust without risking moisture damage, static discharge, or physical impact that could occur with vacuum cleaners, cloths, or liquid cleaners.
Compressed air (canned or shop air) is the standard safe way to clean a dirty power supply, because it blows dust and debris out without introducing moisture or requiring the PSU to be opened. A vacuum cleaner can generate static electricity that risks ESD damage to internal components, an all-purpose cleaner and a damp cloth both introduce liquid near live electrical components and capacitors, which is a shock/short-circuit and corrosion hazard. Compressed air avoids all these risks while still dislodging dust effectively.
