Mercury has essentially no atmosphere, with only an extremely thin exosphere containing trace amounts of hydrogen, helium, oxygen, and sodium. This lack of atmosphere is due to Mercury's small size and weak gravity, which cannot retain gases effectively. Solar winds also strip away any atmospheric particles that may form.
