MRTG (Multi Router Traffic Grapher) was developed by Tobias Oetiker, a Swiss software engineer, in 1997. He created it to monitor traffic loads on network links using SNMP. The other options listed are famous programmers associated with different languages: James Gosling (Java), Bjarne Stroustrup (C++), and Larry Wall (Perl). MRTG remains one of the most widely used network monitoring tools.
