Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram) was built during the Pallava dynasty in the 7th century CE. Narasimha Varman I, also known as Mamalla, is credited with founding and expanding this historic port city famous for its rock-cut temples and sculptures. Rajaraja Chola came later (10th century), while Mahendra Varman was Narasimha Varman's father.
