Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal Emperor, lived in Delhi and was the symbolic leader of the 1857 revolt from there. He was exiled to Rangoon after the rebellion's failure. Agra and Lahore were important Mughal cities but Zafar's seat was the Red Fort in Delhi. Amritsar was not a primary Mughal capital.
