Alexandria is a major port city located in northern Egypt, on the Mediterranean coast. Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BCE, it was once the center of Hellenistic civilization and home to the famous Library of Alexandria and the Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
