Simla (now officially spelled Shimla) is the capital of Himachal Pradesh, a northern Indian state in the Himalayas. Srinagar is the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh is a union territory also serving as capital of Punjab and Haryana, and Itanagar is the capital of Arunachal Pradesh.
