The male bee hummingbird (Mellisuga helenae) is the world's smallest bird, native to Cuba, measuring about 5.5cm and weighing 1.6-2g. The Gentoo Penguin is much larger (up to 8kg), while the Black-legged falconet and Pygmy parrots are small raptors and parrots respectively but not the smallest birds overall.
