Buland Darwaza (meaning 'Great Gate') in Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh is indeed the highest gateway in India at approximately 54 meters (176 feet). It was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1601 to commemorate his victory over Gujarat. The Gateway of India and India Gate are famous but not as tall as Buland Darwaza.
