Budhayana (also written as Baudhayana), an ancient Indian mathematician from around 800 BCE, calculated the value of pi as approximately 3.125 in his Sulba Sutras, predating Greek mathematicians. While Aryabhatta and Euclid later worked on pi, Budhayana was earlier. Aristotle was not primarily a mathematician.
