Bhagat Singh was given the title 'Shahid-e-Azam' (the great martyr) for his sacrifice in India's freedom struggle. He was a revolutionary who was hanged at age 23 in 1931. Chandrashekhar Azad was also a martyr but the specific title 'Shahid-e-Azam' is associated with Bhagat Singh. Sukhdev was his comrade who was also hanged.
