The hippopotamus is considered the most dangerous mammal to humans in Africa, killing an estimated 500 people annually. Despite being herbivorous, they are extremely aggressive and territorial. Rhinos, polar bears, and spotted hyenas are dangerous but hippo attacks result in more human fatalities.
