In Hindu mythology and tradition, Vedavyasa (also known as Vyasadeva or Krishna Dvaipayana Vyasa) was the son of the sage Parashara and the fisherwoman Satyavati. Vyasa is credited with compiling and organizing the Vedas and writing the Mahabharata epic. Shakti and Vasishtha were different sages, while Shuka was actually Vyasa's son, not his father.
